What we collect, and why
| When | What | Why, and our legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| You visit the site | Technical data your browser sends, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested | Our hosting provider records this in server logs to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legitimate interests. |
| You message us on WhatsApp or Telegram, or email us | Your name, number or email address, and whatever you choose to tell us | To reply to you and discuss your enquiry. Legitimate interests, or steps before entering a contract at your request. |
| You become a client | Contact details and the business information needed to deliver the work | To provide our services and invoice you. Performance of a contract, and legal obligations such as keeping accounting records. |
| You join the Ask Ion on AI Telegram channel | Nothing, from us. Telegram shows channel owners a subscriber count, not your number | Not applicable. You can leave the channel at any time. |
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. If we add analytics in future, we will update this page and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Third parties involved
Some parts of the site rely on services run by other companies, which receive your IP address when they deliver their content to your browser:
- Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd, Cyprus), which hosts this website and keeps standard server logs.
- Google Fonts (Google LLC), which supplies the typefaces used on the site.
If you contact us on WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) or Telegram, those messages are handled under their own privacy policies as well as this one. We use them because they're how most of our clients prefer to talk.
Where we work with you as a client, we use carefully chosen service providers to run our systems, such as email, cloud hosting, databases and AI services. They process data only on our instructions and under contracts that protect it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
International transfers
Some of the providers above are based in, or store data in, the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the protections UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 12 months from our last contact, then deleted.
- Client records: for as long as we work together, then for up to 6 years where we need them for tax and accounting purposes.
- If you tell us you're no longer interested, we remove your details sooner.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your data
- stop or restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it
- send your data to you or another organisation in a usable format
To use any of these rights, contact us at the address above. We'll reply within one month. There is no charge.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
